What the studies measured

Published trials of red and near-infrared light, with the journal and the year.

16

randomized trials of light and neck pain

Light reduced neck pain right after treatment in acute cases, and for up to 22 weeks after treatment in chronic cases.

Chow et al. · The Lancet · 2009

60 lb

on your neck at a 60° phone tilt

About 10–12 lb upright, 27 lb at 15°, 49 lb at 45° and 60 lb at 60°.

NO

nitric oxide, freed inside cells by red and near-infrared light

Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels. It’s the same molecule nitroglycerin works through.

Circulation
The 60-second science 60 lb on your neck at a 60° phone tilt

Text neck is just physics

An adult head weighs about 10 to 12 pounds. A 2014 study modeled what happens as you tilt it forward: about 27 pounds at 15 degrees, 49 at 45, and 60 at 60. Most of us spend hours a day somewhere in that range.

Orbit Neck wraps red and near-infrared light around the muscles doing that work.

Think of it like this

Hold a bowling ball against your chest and it’s easy. Hold it at arm’s length and your shoulders start shaking. Your neck does the arm’s-length version all day.

Hansraj · Surgical Technology International · 2014

What the light does

Ease a stiff neck

A meta-analysis of 16 randomized trials found light reduced neck pain, for up to 22 weeks in chronic cases.

Chow et al. · The Lancet · 2009
Answer the 60 lb problem

Looking down at a phone loads your neck with up to 60 lb. The wrap sits right where that load lands.

Hansraj · 2014
Open up circulation

Red and near-infrared light can free nitric oxide inside cells. Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels.

Hamblin · 2018
Wind down without blue light

Your daylight sensor barely registers red, so it fits the end of the day.

Brainard et al. · 2001

Designed for better sessions

Shaped for your neck and shoulders

The wrap curves around the back of your neck and over your shoulders, then fastens at the front so it stays put while you move.

Light on the inside

Red and near-infrared LEDs line the inner panel, right against the muscles that hold your head up all day.

Light on the inside

Two wavelengths, two depths

RED · 660 nm

Absorbed in the top layers of your skin. The wavelength used in most of the skin studies.

NEAR-IR · 850 nm

Invisible to you, and it travels further into tissue, toward muscle and joints.

Ash et al. · Lasers in Medical Science · 2017

Myth vs truth

What most people get wrong about red light

Myth

It’s a heating pad with extra steps.

Truth

A heating pad warms the surface. Red and near-infrared light are absorbed by an enzyme inside your cells, a different mechanism entirely. Warmth is a side effect, not the point.

Karu · IUBMB Life · 2010
Myth

It’s only posture, so nothing else helps.

Truth

Posture matters: it’s where the load comes from. But your neck still has to carry the hours you spend looking down. Orbit Neck is for the minutes after those hours.

Hansraj · Surg Technol Int · 2014
Myth

If it doesn’t feel intense, it isn’t working.

Truth

This isn’t massage or a heat pack. The studied effect happens inside the cell, at doses that feel like gentle warmth. If it hurts, something is wrong.

Huang et al. · Dose-Response · 2009

The research

Named studies, not percentages

Every claim on this page points to a published paper. Here they are.

60 lb

What looking down does to your neck

Modeled the load on the cervical spine as the head tilts forward: about 10–12 lb upright, 27 lb at 15°, 49 lb at 45° and 60 lb at 60°.

Hansraj · Surgical Technology International · 2014
16 trials

Low-level light and neck pain

A meta-analysis of 16 randomized trials found low-level laser therapy reduced neck pain right after treatment in acute cases, and for up to 22 weeks after treatment in chronic cases.

Chow et al. · The Lancet · 2009
Nitric oxide

How light may open up blood vessels

Describes how red and near-infrared light can free nitric oxide from cytochrome c oxidase. Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels.

Hamblin · Photochemistry and Photobiology · 2018
Depth

How far each color travels

Modeled light passing through skin and tissue. Longer red and near-infrared wavelengths reached deeper than shorter colors.

Ash et al. · Lasers in Medical Science · 2017

FAQ

Questions

Can I wear it while I work?

Yes. It fastens at the front and sits on your shoulders, so your hands stay free.

Does it get hot?

It feels warm, not hot. The light does the work, not heat.

How long should I wear it?

10 to 20 minutes, once or twice a day. Short and regular beats long and rare.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the inside with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never machine-wash it.

Can I return it?

Yes. Request a return within 30 days of receiving it by emailing info@tharsyn.com. It needs to be unused and in its original packaging; the refund policy has the details.
